Why do it on your computer
Most free PDF editors are websites: your document goes to someone else’s server so they can edit it. Paperwing runs the editor on your computer, so contracts, invoices and medical forms never leave it.
Paperwing is a free, open-source desktop app for Windows and macOS with more than 100 PDF tools. It works offline, there’s no account, and every tool is free. Download it or browse all the tools.
Questions
Can I edit text in a scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of a page, so there is no text to edit yet. Run OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then edit.
Does editing change the fonts?
Paperwing keeps the document’s fonts where the PDF embeds them. For text in a font the PDF doesn’t include, it uses a close fallback, and you can pick another font in the Format panel.
