The app

Every PDF tool in Paperwing runs on your computer. There are no accounts, no analytics and no telemetry. These are the only times the app connects to the internet:

• Update check: Asks GitHub Releases for a new version. Downloads nothing until you choose. You can turn it off.
• Office converters, once: Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF fetch the LibreOffice engine (about 75 MB) the first time, checked against a SHA-256 hash.
• OCR in other languages: English works offline. Other languages download their data, a few MB each, on first use.
• Timestamps: Contact the timestamp server you pick, sending only a hash of the document.
• Fonts for some scripts: for text in a font a document doesn’t include, a fallback font is used. The Latin one ships with Paperwing; fonts for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Hebrew are downloaded from a CDN the first time they’re needed.

This website

• No cookies, no analytics, no ads. We don’t count visits or track you between pages.
• GitHub: your browser asks GitHub’s public API for the latest release (so the download links stay current) and the project’s star count. GitHub receives your IP address for these requests, as with any visit to GitHub.
• Downloads come from GitHub’s release servers.
• Hosting: the site is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site. We don’t receive or keep logs of individual visitors.
• Email: if you write to us, your message is forwarded to a personal inbox and used only to reply.
